Our vision is to build on our strengths and successful history of providing quality services to clients and expand current programming to increase opportunities for greater self-sufficiency, improved productivity, and integration.

Digital Playbook

Staying Safe Online

People with IDD are using the internet more and more: our survey of our own clients revealed that a majority now use a phone, tablets, or computers and 90% use those devices daily, but less than half say they have been taught the basics of online safety. And as you know, each client’s needs are different. That’s why we developed our Digital Playbook, a three-module comprehensive course teaching 21st-century technology skills to people with IDD. Starting with an assessment to determine the appropriate curriculum, the course is self-paced and flexible to suit the needs and schedule of the student. Sessions can be held in our Glendale offices or remotely, making it a smart and flexible choice for all schedules.

Community Integration Program

Our Community Integration program encourages participants to engage in mainstream educational activities in a community setting

Our community integration program is often the first step. We help adults of all ages who are not able or not yet ready to seek employment the opportunity to volunteer, take classes or participate in various local activities. Our Support Specialists identify various opportunities, plan and supervise outings based on personal choice, then coordinate transportation and arrange scheduling. They guide our Associates on how to stay safe, nurture peer relationships and interact with others, as well as provide opportunities for self-expression and personal discovery through the arts and community classes.

A self-directed service program where the Associate is responsible for guiding their own customized plan and informing their weekly schedule specific to self-directed goals. They also get one-on-one support.

Residential Homes

For independent living with care and training

Our three licensed residential homes are located in a prime Glendale neighborhood. We provide 24-hour supervision and support in a family-like, small-group setting. Our passionate care-giving staff maintain a cozy home feel while reinforcing both independent living skills and mutual cooperation. Residents learn to meet their own personal needs through problem-solving and effective communication, while sharing many of the duties essential to maintaining their home, such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking.

Finding and keeping a meaningful job can be challenging for individuals with developmental disabilities. For those who are ready, our supported employment program helps them discover their own unique abilities, then works with them to turn those talents into a marketable skill. We offer job coaching to those that want it so after they start a new job they have help adjusting to the job and learning how to perform their duties.

The Aktion Club of Glendale

A community-service group composed of adults with developmental disabilities.

Many of our Associates participate in the Aktion Club, a community-service group sponsored by the Glendale Kiwanis that ia composed of adults with developmental disabilities. Associate-members seek to give back to the community, providing others with the support and caring they’ve received.
