Wendy Jacoby Elected President of The Campbell Center Board

The Campbell Center (formerly GAR) Governing Board has elected Wendy Jacoby as President of its Board of Directors, succeeding Eric Hamilton who served in that role from FY2013 through FY2015.  Jacoby, a five-year member of the Board, was most recently serving as Recording Secretary.  With her family, she has been a strong and long-time supporter of The Campbell Center’s fundraising activities. “I am very pleased by Wendy’s election to the Presidency and know that she will do a stellar job guiding the organization through the next two years,” said Hamilton.  “Throughout her tenure on the Board, Wendy has shown a […]

The Campbell Center Foundation Board President Appointed President of Soroptimist International of Glendale

Lt. Lola Abrahamian, President of The Campbell Center Foundation Board, was appointed President of Soroptimist International of Glendale at a Luncheon on Thursday, June 18.  Abrahamian, a 15-year veteran of the Glendale Police Department, succeeds Glendale Councilwoman Paula Devine. “Looking at the roster of Presidents who have preceded me I know I have some very big shoes to fill,” said Abrahamian.  “I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of my Soroptimist sisters who have been role models for me throughout my involvement with SIG and working collaboratively with everyone in our club toward our common goal.” A life-long […]

The Royal Crest Room of Burbank’s Pickwick Banquet Center easily held the 250 or so supporters ready to “gamble” with their “Derby Dollars.” That means derby horses could be selected on betting forms supplied by “Roving Bookies.” The bet also had to contain the race number, horse’s number, the selection of “Win”, Place,” or “Show” and the amount of Derby Dollars to be wagered. Glendale, October 21, 2014 – The Campbell Center (formerly GAR) will hold its annual Bowl-A-Thon at Pickwick Lanes in Burbank on November 2, 2014.  Now in its 22nd year, this fun event has become a much-anticipated tradition over the years, bringing together bowlers and supporters from Glendale, Burbank, La Canada Flintridge, Pasadena, Los Feliz and surrounding communities for an afternoon of fun and fundraising.  Funds raised will help The Campbell Center to continue to providing its quality programs and services to its developmentally-disabled Client population. 60th Anniversary Tribute Evening

On Saturday, September 20, nearly 250 guests were in attendance at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale to support and help The Campbell Center (TCC) celebrate the 60th Anniversary of its founding. The Oakmont Country Club was the opulent setting for the center’s anniversary celebration this past Saturday. Some 300 celebrants were also treated to a “Tribute Evening,” honoring those individuals and organizations contributing to the center’s success. A Day of Horsin’ Around… and Fundraising! The 23rd Annual Derby Day event, held on May 3, 2014, at Pickwick Banquet Center in Burbank, was another success for The Campbell Center and, with the generosity of our Sponsors and donors, raised $90,000 for our mission.  Former Glendale Police Chief Ron DePompa and the Glendale Police Officers’ Association were the recipients of the Campbell Award of Excellence, the organization’s top honor named for Founders Jerry and Phyllis Campbell and bestowed on those whose service and commitment to our mission sets them apart. Benefiting from a percentage of the evening’s proceeds was GAR Services, a work-activity program for adults with developmental disabilities.
