If it’s December, it’s Santa time at The Campbell Center. For more than 3 decades, Glendale’s finest brings the celebration of Christmas to the Clients of The Campbell Center – complete with a visit from Santa, Christmas Carols, gifts, sweets, drinks and cheer all around. To top off the visit, GPD graciously presents an annual donation to TCC in support of the agency’s mission.
On the afternoon of October 31, The Campbell Center was abuzz with goblins, ghosts, princes and princesses, even an angel and a nun in celebration of the annual Client Halloween party. As they have done every year, our Clients spared no imagination in selecting their costumes in their quest to win one of the many awards being given on the occasion. Complete with a pizza lunch (donated by the family of one of our Clients), yummy desserts, pumpkin carving contest, music and dancing, by all accounts the 2017 TCC Halloween party was a smashing success!
Some of The Campbell Center Clients enjoyed a baseball game in high style watching the L.A. Dodgers do their best in taking on the Twins. Not for the first time, TCC was the recipient of a Suite thanks to the generosity of Frank McCourt giving our Clients a night to remember!
And a good time was had by all…. Our Clients, along with a few of our Board and staff members, enjoyed a day out in Gorman riding ATV’s and feasting on a barbecue lunch on Sunday, May 21. Now in its third year, this special day for special people is the brainchild of TCC friends Ron and Lee Levy who once again rallied their friends and sponsored to give our Clients a super fun outing. Pickwick Gardens in Burbank was again abuzz with the energy of the more than 200 guests who came out to support The Campbell Center’s Derby Day on Saturday, May 6. The afternoon was filled with fun activities including race wagering, lavish buffet, a hat contest, drawing for great prizes, a silent auction and a live auction with CBS2 weatherman, Garth Kemp, serving as auctioneer. Close to 100 supporters of The Campbell Center came out to be part of a morning of great energy, fitness and biking at Hoover High School on Sunday, February 26 to help raise funds for The Campbell Center mission. The group of biking teams competed against one another, cheered on by their fans and other spectators, including several of The Campbell Center Clients. By all accounts it was a great experience in an atmosphere of friendly competition and philanthropic spirit. The Campbell Center is pleased to announce a recent gift of $60,000 from the S. Mark Taper Foundation for operating expenses. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the members of the S. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a copter…delivering Santa Claus for his annual visit to The Campbell Center on December 6 to bring cheer to the Clients who eagerly await his arrival right about this each year. Now in its third decade, the visit is made possible by Glendale’s finest – the members of the Glendale Police Department and the Glendale Police Officers’ Association, many of whose members were also present to partake in the celebration, including Chief Robert Castro.
Pickwick Bowl was abuzz with excitement on Sunday, November 6, as bowlers and supporters gathered for an afternoon of fun, camaraderie, bowling, food, drinks and overall good times at the 25th Annual Bowl-A-Thon benefiting The Campbell Center.

For the second year, on May 14, 2016, The Campbell Center clients had the opportunity to spend a day out in the community, riding ATVs and UTVs in Hungry Valley, Gorman in Santa Clarita County. The event was such a great hit last year that the organizers, philanthropists Ron and Lee Levy, brought it back by popular demand. The afternoon of May 7 will be remembered by the more than 200 guests in attendance as yet another super fun Derby Day. Once again the event which this year marked its 25th Anniversary offered an array of activities for everyone to enjoy. The Campbell Center (formerly GAR) Governing Board has elected Wendy Jacoby as President of its Board of Directors, succeeding Eric Hamilton who served in that role from FY2013 through FY2015. Jacoby, a five-year member of the Board, was most recently serving as Recording Secretary. Lt. Lola Abrahamian, President of The Campbell Center Foundation Board, was appointed President of Soroptimist International of Glendale at a Luncheon on Thursday, June 18. Abrahamian, a 15-year veteran of the Glendale Police Department, succeeds Glendale Councilwoman Paula Devine. “Looking at the roster of Presidents who have preceded me I know I have some very big shoes to fill,” said Abrahamian. “I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of my Soroptimist sisters who have been role models for me throughout my involvement with SIG and working collaboratively with everyone in our club toward our common goal.” A life-long […]
